Matteo Lo Greco, a sculptor in Venice

 Matteo Lo Greco, which today lives and works in Venice, where he has his Art Gallery in the city centre and a Studio at Lido, was born in Sicily in 1949. 

After graduating in Political Science at the University of Palermo, he moved to Lisbon,  Portugal, to study at the Academy of Fines Arts.

Pupil of the portuguese sculptor Antonio Duarte and the painter Hilario Teixeira Lopes, he became “Official Member” of the National Society of Fines Arts of Portugal.

In 1982 the Museum of Contemporary Art in Mirandela inaugurated with his expositions; his    works still belong to the permanent collection of the Museum. 

He took part in many collective and individual exhibitions in Italy, United States and Europe, especially in France, where joined the tradition of the Paris’ showrooms (MAC2000, Gran Palais).

In 1999 he received the Silver Medal of the City of Palermo.

In July 2004 there was a solo exhibit of Matteo Lo Greco at the Ca’ Pesaro International  Modern Art Gallery in Venice, entitled “L’ Aoristico – Matteo Lo Greco’s sculptures and drawings”.

Since 2005 he is the Founder and President of the Association Artisti Spa+A .

Fascinated by the oriental culture, he often goes to China; he made a series of solo exhibits in Shanghai and Beijing. He was also invited to show his sculptures during the works for the Universal Expo of 2010 in Shanghai.

After several expositions in Europe, personal or with his Association, in 2014 he enlarged his studio in Lido, while in 2017 he opened a new showroom in Pietrasanta (LU).

In 2019 his precense is mainly in Denmark, where he partecipates to three expositions.

His sculptures have become part of worldwide art collections.
